Description
Tile Fountain Rod McKuen Estate Spanish Mediterranean. These amazing tiles were salvaged 6 years ago from the home of the late songwriter and poet Mr Rod McKuen . They were located in the back yard garden area of his original 1920’s Spanish Mediterranean style home located on Angelo drive in Beverly Hills . He was known for his books of poetry, his recordings of spoken-word poetry and music and his work as a film-industry composer. His more than 1,500 songs have been recorded by such as artists as Barbra Streisand, Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra. The home was filled with such amazingly beautiful items such as this . This fountain consists of tiles that were imported from Spain . The tiles are very rare and very old . They were originally in a circular fountain which was removed due to damage from an earthquake causing breakage and shifting . Approximately 100 + tiles were salvaged and removed and put away. They are now surfacing and are available for purchase and reuse. Such a great part of Hollywood history . The tiles do vary in condition. Some of the tiles contain residue from being in the water . There are a few small nicks and chips but nothing to major . Each tile had to be hand removed from the concrete and carefully cleaned to remove any existing concrete from the backs . A very delicate and timely process . It is hard to capture the tiles true beauty in photos but they really are amazing in person . We try to include the details in the photosAll tiles were removed by Eric of Eric‘s architectural salvage of LA and are located at 1540 W. 6th St., Los Angeles, CA 90017
