A paten is a plate that holds sacraments in religious ceremonies. In the tradition of Wicca and Witchcraft, the pentacle disk is an essential ritual tool which evokes the Earth element. It can be used to consecrate other objects, stones, and jewelry, and display sacramental food items during ritual. The pentagram in upright fashion represents the four elements balanced by Spirit.
Venerated by the ancient Druids, Oak is the king of the forest and represents strength, stability, loyalty and courage.  Because of its height and water retention, Oak is frequently struck by lightning but thrives nevertheless.  Because of this, it shares affinity with the gods Zeus and Thor.
They're made in America by our in-house artist using wood sourced from Michigan!
Our unfinished patens are hand-sanded and beautiful on their own, but you'll be able to personalize it further by drawing, writing or carving it prior to finishing it yourself.
We also have a finished version of the paten, using non-toxic blend of polymerized linseed oils and beeswax. It is environmentally friendly, food-contact safe and free of volatile organic compounds.
