Lovely antique Edwardian period cameo, a depiction of Psyche, but more in
keeping with the look of the day than the traditional Renaissance inspired
works of earlier times. Here she sports the bobbed and sassy hair of the
time along with a deeply draped gown and exposed décolletage.
Her signature butterfly is perched on her shoulder. Psyche is Greek
for soul and it was thought the soul left the body like a butterfly. Her
face is sublime, very sweet and detailed, with a lovely smile. Excellent
artistry, with colors of chocolate and snow. Bezel set in attractive
gold filled frame
with triple ball accents.
